We’re experts at cleaning up difficult sites like former industrial and agricultural land so people can safely live and work there.
Many of our urban infill developments require substantial environmental remediation. We have the expertise and experience to clean contaminated soil and groundwater, making it safe for occupancy. We’ve worked on challenging sites like post-industrial land, safely removing fuel tanks and waste from the ground. Our strong history of mitigating development risk demonstrates our capacity to comply with city, state, and federal regulation.
What we do to create safe places to live.
Industrial usage damages land with solvents, chemicals and other hazardous materials. We draft plans to clean contaminated soil and water on development sites and then work to get those plans approved. We cleaned a former mill site and are in the process of safely remediating a 64-acre post-industrial landscape.
We restore natural habitats to make them safe and enjoyable for visitors, At Brooklyn Basin, we are rehabilitating an adjacent wetland and revitalizing a trail system that will be a link on a regional path.
Plans for site cleanups require approvals. We’re experienced in working with the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and the Army Core of Engineers, among others, to accomplish remediation goals.
We are experts in soils engineering and know how to manage the risks involved with unknown soils. We secured the foundations for a residential development in Orinda by stabilizing a landslide and have seismically retrofitted numerous structures to ensure maximum foundational integrity.
SDG will remediate all of Brooklyn Basin’s 64 acres that were used by industry for 100 years. By performing a multi-year analysis of soil and groundwater contamination in compliance with the Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC), SDG developed a plan to effectively remove all contamination.
MORE ON THE HIVEWe prioritize public and environmental health. Many of our developments exist on repurposed industrial and commercial sites. Over the past two decades, we have demonstrated our commitment to removing hazardous materials, solvents, and pollutants from land and water to establish safe foundations for people and ecosystems. Through these projects, we have become experts at navigating the complicated field of regulations that govern site remediation.
Our portfolio includes the remediation of a 64-acre, post-industrial waterfront; a former auto plant; and numerous other brownfield sites. We have restored wetlands adjacent to our developments, and created new trails and walking paths for the public parks system.
