Designed for those devoted to the moment, Rowhaus is a boutique offering home to just 30 units, evenly split among junior one bedrooms and studios. Its nimble size and proximity to the best of Uptown makes it the ideal living space for younger, independent-minded residents, for whom the ample bike parking and intrinsic connection the neighborhood effortlessly complements their active and engaged lifestyle.
Rowhaus partnered with the long time owner of the existing building to retain the historic auto row and an economic engine for Oakland by building space for the previous auto showroom on the ground floor while adding vertical density with 30 new residential units above.
The building is surrounded by existing structures with long-time community businesses. Conditions in the field during construction required that the building be reconfigured to pull back from those neighbors to increase privacy.
Creating peaceful places for the community.
Rowhaus continues the build out of the Broadway Valdez District Specific Plan area which will soon house thousands of new residents by filling in one small parcel within the area’s mosaic of buildings.
Rowhaus will keep Oakland’s tax base through auto sales while also adding space for new and current residents to gather and live. In this way the project both maintains and adds to Oakland’s diversity of old and new.
Building spaces to gather and live.
